Anyone who travels has stories to tell! I am sure you all have some thrilling stories, as do I and my friends.
Just recently a friend of mine told me his somewhat “nightmare of a journey” back home to Paris when he missed his flight back from Mexico. The flight had been canceled without him being notified in time. It took him all in all 3 whole days to find new possible flights on which to fly home.
In Paris, the nightmare wasn’t quite over: he and his travel partner had to sleep in the train station to be able to catch the French high-speed train TGV the next day, which would take them to Strasbourg, a city not too far from his own home.
My friend is a sensitive traveler but stoically endured this “nightmare journey“. He almost got cynical about his travels, in a humorous way. He explained that something like this had never happened to him before. It was just unbelievable.
And of course he arrived at my place completely physically exhausted. He came to visit and just slept for 11hours straight in order to replenish the energy lost through the hassle with the airline company at the airport, all just to find him a new back flight option a.s.a.p. plus the three nights of sleep lost in the meantime.
Missing trains, airplanes, buses or trams or getting stuck at airports or train stations can be a real horror for any traveler. It is not only time consuming and usually prolongs the traveling time exensively but is also very stressful on the body’s energy system of a sensitive traveler. Having sleepless nights, waiting in train stations or airport lounges for hours with many people around drains a lot of energy from a sensitive traveler. So instead of arriving excited and full of energy in the new city or place, a sensitive traveler first of all will be longing for a good long rest or a full nights’ sleep to feel fit and physically well again. To rest in a train station or an airport or to sleep in an airplane or coach is usually not possible for sensitive travelers who are bothered by too much noise, bad smells or uncomfortable room temperatures. It can even take two or three days to rebuild his or her system back to normal, whereas a normal traveler might only need a few hours of sleep for it.
Traveling time zones is another topic and can be an equally exhausting experience for a sensitive traveler. For it has some quite stressful effects on the body‘s biorhythm which just needs time to adapt to the new daylight rhythm. A sensitive traveler might stay jetlagged much longer than his travel partners generally do.
So if all (or parts) of this sounds very familiar to you as well, welcome amongst the sensitive travelers.
