DO YOU KNOW WHAT KIND OF TRAVEL TYPE YOU ARE?

Let’s find out!

Each travel type loves to explore and to discover in his or her specific and individual way. Being for example a foody & shopper travel type but a sensitive traveler at the same time can make your travel life somewhat stressful and complicated.

„Why is this?“ a normal all-eating traveler would think: “Isn‘t it great to check out new delicious food specialties in unknown places?“ Getting to know new ways of preparing and combining spices with meat, milk or vegetables is often key to an exciting new palate adventure. The joy of experiencing the veggies and fruits and spices you have never seen nor tasted before while traveling is something a lot of people love to experience whilst on a holiday.

Being sensitive as a traveler often includes a certain food and nutrition sensitivity. A lot of sensitive people cannot just eat what they like but have to take care of their personal specific dietary needs and their individual eating rhythm. Plus they might easily suffer from digestion problems – often constipation – in general or extra intensively while traveling. For traveling brings along so many stressful new situations for their body system, that they often react with constipation to them. Or else they react with just the opposite: diarrhea.

Sensitive travelers might eat something new or unknown to their digestive system and very quickly end up with diarrhea, vomiting or other sickness symptoms. Maybe the food was not organic or it was seasoned with some strong unknown spices, which troubled them later or maybe even contaminated with some local bacteria or parasites (this often happens in less developed and hygienic countries). This can be very disturbing for a sensitive traveler and make him or her feel so sick for quite some time and might even totally spoil their holiday or stay abroad. Of course, this can also happen to a normal traveler, but their recovery time is usually much shorter.

I recently had a client who was on a vegan diet. As part of our telephone conversation, I knew he was fond of vegan or raw-vegan chocolate bars and crackers. So I got him his ideal snacks. He also loved to get fresh organic farmer‘s product at the local markets and adored fresh juices and smoothies. So I showed him a great little alternative food store near the cathedral in FR city, most people  don’t even know about.

Being in a new place it can take up quite some time and effort for a sensitive traveler touring around to find their ideal food place. Particularly since there are many places on this planet where dairy and animal-free products are not yet offered in restaurants and cafés.

This is true for the Black Forest (D) and Alsace Region (F). Both regions are dominated by plenty of meat and dairy specialties.

I know what I am talking about here, for I am following a raw-vegan diet which is sometimes difficult given my familial backround of farmers. In rural areas in the Black Forest and Alsace region vegan food places are basically non-existing. A few restaurants might serve vegetarian food dishes and generally will offer some mixed home-made salads (which unfortunately generally use cream or yoghurt in their salad dressings).

Therefore for sensitive travelers living with a special diet it is always somewhat difficult at the beginning in a new city or a new place. It will take them time to find out where they might wine and dine or enjoy their vegan or other special food without having health issues later. And it will also usually will take energy and time for them to find out where they are able to shop for organic fresh veggies, fruits and nuts. Rural areas do not offer this in our region either. Unless of course, you are lucky enough to find an organic farmer or farmer’s store in the village.

This is one of the many reasons why I like to offer my individual tour service.

For in planing your individual tour, I am also able to consider your special diet needs. I can find out ahead of your tour where to get the food you love which will allow you to feel well and healthy for the duration of your stay. I can try and arrange for a vegan picnic or some vegan snacks on the tour. Plus, if you would like to try a typical local snack or other specialties, I can arrange for that as well.

So don‘t hesitate to have me plan your individual tour and find out the best and most suitable eating spots for you here. I really want you to be able to relax and feel comfortable with the available foods, knowing that I am taking all the necessary steps to ensure you are enjoying your culinary experience.
