Frequently Asked Questions
How do I book / pay a tour?
All bookings or reservations are made in written form per email at the very latest 3 days prior to the start of the booked tour.
Bookings at shorter notice less than 3 days prior to the tour date are asked to be booked by telephone and then confirmed via email to guarantee availability of all services.
With receipt of payment your tour is confirmed. Bookings at a shorter notice less than 3 days prior to the tour have to be somehow documented and proved to the agency or are being payed in cash on the tour day itself.
How much does a tour cost?
new sky travels specialty is to design individual tours for our guests. Therefore, the prices are also individually designed depending on the length of the tour plus any booked extras such as a chauffeur, picknick or other possible and available tour options. We do not have standard or fixed prices. Each guests receives a tour offer after completing a discovery call with me for their individually designed adventure which he/she can then book. With payment of the offer, the tour is booked and confirmed.
Can I pay by credit card?
Yes, you can. Just look for the booking & payment button in the menu item „adventures“.
What if I need to cancel a tour?
Payments can be refunded within a fortnights cancellation period after booking. Incurred bank transfer fees will not be refunded.
All clients are subject to a cancellation fee of 70€ which will be charged if a booking or reservation is cancelled later. For cancellations less than 28 days prior to the start of a tour the following fees apply to the cancellations:
*28 to 21 days prior = 50% of total cost
*20 to 14 days prior = 70% of total cost

Payments at a shorter notice than a fortnight are non-refundable.
What should I pack for a hiking tour?
For my suggestion on what to bring for a hiking tour, please check my freebie “the travelers‘ checklist“. You will get all the necessary information there.
Generally, good hiking gear is recommended including hiking or trekking boots (sneakers are generally not supportive enough), a cushion or a towel to sit on, and protection from rain and sunshine. New Sky Travel will provide water, fruits and snacks for you. In case you want to have a sandwich you could make one from the hotels breakfast buffet or we can just pass by a bakery store to get one for you if you do not have special dietary requirements.
What should I pack for a city tour?
As to our city tours please also refer to my freebie “the travelers“ checklist. It is highly recommended to have comfortable shoes which you like best, potentially waterproof ones if it is a very rainy day. New Sky Travel will provide water, fruits and snacks for you. On sunny days, please try to bring your own sunscreen, hats and other items you might need.
Are there any vegan options?
If you are vegan, please do let us know in advance. Many places in the Alsace and Black Forest region do not provide vegan options. I will try to prearrange some catering for you such as a picknick or gathering some delicious vegan snacks. Plus, I’ll research the best available vegan places in the town we are visiting.
Do I need to know some German or French words?
When traveling in a foreign country, the locals love it when you try to greet them in their local language or make efforts to talk to them in their mother tongue. Especially in Alsace the locals are very peculiar about this. There is a certain expectation that everybody that everybody can speak French which of course is not the case. But if you make the effort and try to greet locals in French, they will be much more willing to make an effort and speak English to you.
The Germans are less demanding in their expectations of guests to be able to speak their language. English is the favored first foreign language in middle and highschool in Germany, so many people do speak and understand English quite well. It is also the international language for business, travel and online transactions. English is very common to hear and read almost everywhere in Germany. The German language uses a lot of English vocabulary nowadays. Yet in some remote parts of the Black Forest region, locals speak little or no foreign languages. So here it would come in handy to be able to speak a few German words and of course, like anywhere in the world it would be greatly appreciated by the locals.
But don‘t worry: you don’t need to take language classes before traveling here. I can teach you a few German and French words if you would like. And of course modern technologies provide technical tools such as apps to quickly get some basic translations and words in any desired language. If you would like some suggestions on appropriate apps, I’m more than happy to help.
Do I need to bring my own beverages on tour?
New Sky Travel always will provide water, fresh fruits and snacks for tours. If you have special beverage preferences please, let us know in time ahead. Or, we can quickly go shopping with you to get a suitable drink before we start the tour.
